Season 17: The Impact Player

"Forget walking! This is where we learned how to RUN!" -bob

Season 17 is officially wrapped, and we couldn't be happier! Like always, we had high hopes of making it a better season than the one before, but this time we succeeded beyond all expectations. Despite all the scheduling snafus, looming debts, property damage, backstabbing, heartache and worry, we put everything on the table and discovered that candor brought a lot more laughter than quirky ever did. We decided nothing was sacred -- Bob is shameless by nature anyway, right? -- so we embraced full disclosure as a means of entertaining our listeners in ways we never imagined that we would. (We're still kinda surprised by the amount of detail we spilled about our personal lives this time around.) What followed turned out to be our finest episodes and band interviews* to date!

That said, our impromptu "2nd Floor Skylight" has been patched up and the Berkley Manor has been completely rewired. To celebrate we thought we would add our favorite quotes from this landmark season. If you don't know any (or all) of them, we encourage you to catch up by visiting our Episodes section. Season 18 is just around the corner, and we don't want you to feel left out! We've experienced plenty of victories and defeats in this first half of 2008, and we hashed everything out in public with the hope that it would entertain, shock, and -- yes -- even educate. We took a big step in the right direction, and you can believe it when we say that we have the content to prove it. So get on it!

Comedy Episodes
Band Interviews (with Free Music!)

*Special thanks to local recording studios Stray Dog Recording Co. and Chicago Guitar Lessons for ensuring that we get the best sound out of our interviews. BFN has been utilizing these two studios for a year now, and we couldn't be happier with engineers Dave Whitcomb (SDRC) and Mike Powell (CGL). These guys help make BFN a legitimate operation, and we are beyond grateful for their bargain rates and unbridled enthusiasm to see this DIY podcast reach its full potential!

Fire in the Berkley Manor!

"What? Was it something I said?" -bob

Bob Dubilina: Radio DJ, Valuable Stuff Possessor, Amateur Fireman.

No, Season 17 is not wrapped yet. It's just that things have been quite hectic for us this summer . . . and the faulty wiring in the Berkley Manor isn't helping much either. That's right, we had a minor electrical fire in the BFN studio (i.e., Bob's living quarters) this month. Oddly enough, it happened just as we were about to tackle a long overdue episode, no less!

No worries, though. The hole in the ceiling is still there, but the debris has been swept up and the electricity has been restored to the apartment. We're poised to deliver THREE more episodes -- including one whopper of a season finale! -- and a slew of band interviews (Joshua James, Alexa Wilkinson, Meiko, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Garrison Starr and The Spares!) before we wrap this current season, so keep checking out our Episodes and Interviews sections!

Finally! After months of painstaking trial and error -- Bob learned lots of new HTML functions by sheer willpower (no joke!) -- we have completed our long-overdue site update! It's simple: Earlier in the year we decided to make BFNinYourEars.com easier to navigate. However, it turned out that there were an insane amount of changes to be made, and what was supposed to be light spring cleaning turned into a major overhaul. So while the site may look the same as it's always been, all of the pages have been restructured and/or updated with new content! For instance:

Want to listen to episodes chock full of strange tales and personal neuroses (aka "the funny stuff")? Go to our brand new Episodes section!

Want to browse through our extensive archive of band interviews and download in-studio performances (aka "the music stuff")? Check out our brand new Interviews section!

Furthermore, we've updated our Spotlight Artists page as well as added THREE YEARS worth of pictures in the BFN Photo gallery!

Still not completely satisfied? (Sheesh, now you're sounding an awful lot like Bob . . .) Well, how about five hours of free music? That's right, Windy City Reprise: The Best Songs of 2007 is now available to the public! Yes, yes, some will say it's a little late in the new(?) year for another "Best Of" compilation, but we're going to argue that it's just the right time to be wistful for the good ol' days of '07 (or at least its music). Either way, click on the artwork above to download the latest BobbyDobbyD Soundtrack.

Season 17 is in full swing and we have some incredible material for you. In fact, the episodes and interviews keep getting better and better, so make sure to catch up on everything and then come back for more. Subscribe to the podcasts! Post your feedback in our Forums! The next big step -- PROMOTION -- requires your help, so be a good listener and spread the word! Let's aim to make this our best year yet! Go BFN!
